FINAL CONFERENCE IN POZNAN - POLAND

Final Conference took place 07-09 November in Poznan, the capital of the Wielkopolska Region. The last meeting has been held by the Poznan Science and Technology Park in cooperation with the Marshal’s Office of the Wielkopolska Region and gathered both FINE Partners and regional stakeholders. The Final Conference was aimed at summarizing results of the project and analyzing perspectives on project’s continuation. Participants shared their ideas concerning FINE in future. Every Partner introduced proposals on what should and what should not be part of FINE 2. All participants have come to conclusion that the joint work and cooperation within this network was very valuable and is worth continuation.

On 9 November participants visited the POZMEAT Factory. It was an opportunity to become acquainted with a process and technology of meat production and functioning of a modern meat plant.

MEETING IN WAGENINGEN - THE NETHERLANDS

During last meeting in Wageningen (3-5 October 2007) two European Food Networks participated in the event: FINE and ABC. It was a great opportunity to get known each other and outline the fields of cooperation for the future. Both Networks participated in Food Value Conference. The theme of this year’s conference was ‘Consumer Insights, Inside Consumers’. Two workshops were offered to the attendees: Consumer behavior in Real Life and Consumer behavior in Second Life. Next day visiting Restaurant of the Future was a key point.  The Restaurant of the Future is not just a place to experiment with new food products, preparation methods and self-service systems, but also a facility allowing close observation of consumer eating and drinking behaviour, claiming its founders.

MEETING IN BOLOGNA - ITALY

During last meeting in Bologna – Italy (06-07 May 2007) 12 draft project proposals with the highest interest expressed by the FINE partners were presented. Now the projects ideas will be developed in order to submit them for the next calls 2007-2008. There were different types of projects: networking and promotion, RTD and infrastructures. All project partners articulated their interest in further cooperation because of the FINE project successful realization.

Policy recommendations - the objective of the report is to formulate recommendations for a Research and Technological Development policy (RTD policy) for the  food sector on a regional level.  [ here ]

Final report - this report presents the analysis of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in 8 strong EU food regions and develops strategic objectives to reinforce the RTD intensity and innovation in these regions, by enhancing cooperation between relevant stakeholders.  [ here ]
